Coon Camp Springs, Inc. has PLM deer tags for sale for the
2009 season. The revenue from the tags will help fund future
habitat projects.
We have four tags this year. The hunts are 7 days long. The
hunts are normally guided with 2 hunters to 1 guide. Or, we
will set 1 hunter up in a stand and take the other hunter
elsewhere. If you prefer hunting on your own, we can
accommodate that also.
The tags are only for use on our range. The range is 7,000
acres in size. It is a combination of forest, meadow and sage
brush. The range is in the X3A zone. The property is
bordered by Modoc National Forest, Lassen National Forest
and a State Game Preserve. The normal deer season in X3A
this year will be from Oct. 3 through Oct. 18. The season for
our PLM tags will be from Oct 23 through Nov. 8.
The hunts include full use of our camp area which includes 8
bunk beds, a kitchen area, an inside dining area, a BBQ grill
and picnic table outside, a shower with hot and cold running
water and an outhouse.
All meals will be provided. Meals will consist of a hot
breakfast, a bag lunch and a "meat and potatoes" dinner.
There will also be snacks and refreshments.
We know of several places where we can always find deer
and can put you in these places on stand but most of the
hunting will be spot and stalk.

In 2006, we sold three PLM tags and all hunters tagged out.
In 2007 we sold four tags. Three of the hunters filled their tags, two 3x3s and a mature 2x2 which is
what that particular hunter was looking for. The fourth hunter spotted a 5x5 on the neighboring property
early in his hunt and kept waiting for it to come across the fence. He passed up several nice deer and
then never did see the "monster" again. So, he went home with a smile on his face.
In 2008, we sold four tags. Three of the hunters got 3x3s. One of them weighed over 200 lbs. after
being field dressed. The fourth hunter got sick, passed on an easy shot and then left.
We are asking $3063.00 per tag. The 63.00 is what we have to pay DFG for the tag.
Coon Camp Springs is a registered non-profit organization, so the $3000.00 is
considered a donation and it can be deducted from your 2009 income taxes.
